dedicata agli artisti di
Colors Of Life Photocontest 2006/2008.

The Gallery Art & Design apre la sua sede virtuale in Second Life con l'esposizione di alcune tra le 100 fotografie che sono state selezionate nei 2 Concorsi Fotografici del 2006 e del 2008.

La galleria apre in Second Life con lo scopo di far conoscere il progetto di Arte e Filantropia che porta avanti a livello internazione, ma anche per far conoscere i numerosi fotografi che vi hanno partecipato e continuano a partecipareal concorso Colors Of Life.
Colors Of Life dedica la sua esposizione virtuale a Fondazione Pangea Onlus: associazione No Profit che lotta contro la violenza sulle donne nel mondo. Tutto il ricavato delle vendite sarà interamente ed immediatamente devoluto all'associazione (le foto infatti sono rezzate dall'avatar di Pangea). L'obiettivo primario è quello di far conoscere Pangea anche attraverso Second Life.

Lunedì 20 Aprile alle 22.30 Mexi Lane ci condurrà all'interno del progetto per farcene conoscere motivazioni, scopi ed obiettivi.

Successivamente Colors Of Life esporrà altri artisti del concorso nella Galleria del Metaverso, grazie all'invito di Roxelo Babenco.

In autunno, dopo la premiazione del Photocontest 2009, la Permanente verrà sostituita con l'esposizione dei nuovi vincitori; inoltre vi sarà una mostra dedicata a tutti gli artisti che hanno partecipato al concorso 2009 con le foto realizzate in Second Life.

OPENING:

Monday April 20th 10:30 pm CEST

Our main goal is the idea that by combining art with philanthropy, we can improve the quality of life and conditions of less-fortunate people and through this virtual gallery we want to bring direct visibility to all of the artists who previously joined us and supported our project, welcoming the new ones.

Funds collected through donations or purchase of the pictures on display, will be donated to Pangea ONLUS, a not for profit organization promoting conditions of development and participation of women and their families (images will be "rezzed" by own Pangea's avatar).

Mexi Lane will be our host during the opening and he/she/it will take us deeper into the project's own goals and intentions.

Afterwards, thanks to the invitation from Roxelo Babenco of the Metaversus Museum the exhibition will be visible at the Museum as well.

After the official proclamation of the winners for this third 2009 edition, the exhibition will be enriched by the works of the winning artists; in addition to this another exhibition dedicated to all the artists who subscribed and joined us via SL will be held.

We hope to see you all Monday April 20th -10.30 pm ( 1:30 pm SLT) - @ Colors of Life for Pangea ONLUS.

RULES AND CONDITIONS

THE COMPETITION

A portion of the funds collected from sales of artists' works and otherwise at exhibitions will support PANGEA ONLUS, a non-profit organization actively providing and giving assistance to women in need in Afghanistan through PROJECT JAMILA.

The work of the participants selected by THE GALLERY ART & DESIGN will be submitted to a jury of leading international gallery owners, academics and artists and a collective exhibition of 50 selected finalist photographs in the Competition will be held at:

• Capital One Corporate Gallery, Richmond VA, July-August 2009
• Artspace, Richmond VA, October 2009
• Kkien Atelier, Milan, Italy, November-December 2009

In addition, the five prize-winning images will be on display during the 2010 MIART, International Contemporary Art Fair, Milan, Italy

"Emotions, Dreams and Thoughts of Humanity"

Open to all photographers 18 years and older. Any form of photographic medium, black and white, color, non-silver, computer-manipulated, etc., is eligible. Artists should feel free to interpret this year’s theme in the broadest sense to allow full range of their creativity.

The Gallery Art & Design is a space dedicated to art with a singular proposal that deliberately inserts itself into avant-garde trends. After operating in Mexico City and Milan, The Gallery opens its doors in Richmond. In this new effervescent environment of intense cultural activity, The Gallery, closely tied to the conceptual movement, operates as a gathering point for young talented American and international artists.

The Gallery is appreciated by a demanding public for the excellent quality and contemporaneousness of its artists. Focused on the content as well as the high quality of the artwork, The Gallery responds to the aesthetic concerns of a dynamic city by giving a voice and a space to the problems and uncertainties of the different trends that arise in the world of contemporary art.

Colors of Life enters now SECOND LIFE thanks to WDT PLANET



Colors of Life opens its first virtual gallery at WDT PLANET with an exhibition of a selection of the best pictures from the previous two editions of the photo contest.

Photographs on display will be available for purchase in SECOND LIFE with LINDEN DOLLARS and funds collected will be entirely devolved to PANGEA ONLUS, a not for profit Italian organization that works since 2002 to assure valuable and decent conditions of living to women in needs and to improve their own economic and social environment with different instruments such as: education, instruction on human rights, professional training, health education and micro credit to offer them tools and opportunities for concrete recovery.

But it's not ended yet!

Colors of Life International Photo Contest opens its doors to all the Second Life's artists. Even virtual photography, in Second Life world, will be eligible to participate to the photo contest, like a real photograph!

The new edition of the photo contest, is diverted, starting from the success of the two previous editions, on two different kind of scenarios: the European one, with its apex in the Milan exhibition and the the USA one.

Call for entries, March 1st 2009 - May15th 2009.
The work of the participants selected by The Gallery will be submitted to a jury of leading international gallery owners, academics and artists in the field for the selection of the Competition winner and the first and second runners-up and two honorable mentions in the Competition.

Funds collected from the sale of the 50 finalists photographs (except for the part due to the arist and possible additional expenses in the evenience those will not be covered by sponsors) will be devolved to Pangea to support Project Jamila.

The collection of the 50 finalists pictures could be used after explicit request by whoever will make a request, to be exhibited in art fairs and private collections or private or institutional cultural associations of the high and undisputed artistic value aiming to support and promote philantropy and not for profit organizations.

First, second, third price and two honorable mentions will be chosen and selected by the official jury and one of the two honorable mentions will be explicitely chosen from the submissions coming from Second Life if the total number of those will be equal or greater than 50 at least.

Colors of Life in Second Life per Fondazione Pangea Onlus

Colors of Life, International Photo Contest, nasce nel 2005 da un’idea di Amalia Pizzardi, direttrice

artistica e proprietaria di The Gallery Art & Design.

The Gallery Art & Design è uno spazio dedicato all’arte, con una proposta singolare che si inserisce deliberatamente nelle correnti d’avanguardia. Inaugurata nel 1996 a Città del Messico,

attiva in seguito a Milano e più recentemente a Richmond, in Virginia, The Gallery, strettamente vincolata al movimento concettuale, e’ diventata un punto d’incontro per artisti giovani e con talento ed e’ apprezzata da un pubblico esigente per la straordinaria qualità e contemporaneità dei suoi artisti. Focalizzata sul contenuto e sull’alta qualità delle opere, The Gallery risponde ai problemi estetici di una società che si muove a velocità esponenziale dando una voce ed uno spazio alle inquietudini delle differenti correnti artistiche che sorgono nel mondo dell’arte contemporanea internazionale e supporta e promuove attraverso la realizzazione di Colors of Life International Photo Contest, attività sociali e culturali a scopo benefico ed umanitario. Colors of Life apre la sua prima sede virtuale a WDT Planet con l'esposizione di alcune delle numerose e splendide fotografie che hanno partecipato e vinto negli anni precedenti il Colors of Life International Photo Contest.

Le fotografie esposte saranno acquistabili in Linden Dollars ed il ricavato verrà interamente devoluto a Fondazione Pangea Onlus ( http://www.pangeaonlus.org/index.php ) .

Fondazione Pangea Onlus è un’organizzazione no profit che dal 2002 lavora per favorire condizioni di sviluppo economico e sociale delle Donne e delle loro famiglie attraverso strumenti quali: l'istruzione, l'educazione ai diritti umani, la formazione professionale, l'educazione igienico-sanitaria e alla salute riproduttiva e la micro finanza, per la creazione di attività generatrici di reddito.

Ma non è finita!

Colors of Life International Photo Contest apre le porte agli artisti di Second Life. Anche la fotografia virtuale, del mondo di SL, potrà partecipare al concorso , così come la fotografia reale!

La nuova edizione del concorso Colors of Life 2009 punta, partendo dai presupposti e dal successo delle precedenti, su due scenari differenti: quello Europeo con suo culmine nell’esposizione di Milano e quello Statunitense.

L’inizio del concorso, online da marzo fino a maggio 2009, mira alla selezione di 50 fotografie finaliste, selezionate

da una giuria internazionale composta da critici, artisti e personalità eminenti del mondo della cultura e dell’arte.

Il ricavato delle vendite delle fotografie finaliste del concorso (tolta la parte spettante all'artista

ed eventuali spese addizionali se non coperte dagli sponsor), sarà devoluto a Pangea per il progetto Jamila ( http://www.pangeaonlus.org/main.php?liv1=progetti&liv2=in_corso&liv3=afghanistan_jamila&liv4=scenario ).

Le cinquanta fotografie finaliste potranno in seguito essere utilizzate su esplicita richiesta di chi ne facesse domanda, per l’esposizione in fiere d’arte e collezioni private o istituzioni culturali e statali dall’elevato e indiscusso valore artistico e miranti a patrocinare la filantropia e le organizzazioni benefiche in generale.

Primo, secondo, terzo premio e due menzioni onorifiche saranno selezionati dalla giuria ufficiale ed inoltre: menzione onorifica come miglior fotografia realizzata in Second Life se i partecipanti al concorso provenienti dal metaverso saranno superiori ai 50 iscritti.

TEMATICA CONCORSO

L’obiettivo di questo concorso è quello di sottolineare, attraverso la fotografia, la lotta quotidiana

che devono affrontare tante donne per riconquistare i propri diritti, per proteggere i

propri figli e assicurare loro un futuro migliore, ma anche le tante piccole e grandi vittorie che

riescono a raggiungere.

Le immagini dovranno esprimere le emozioni, i sogni e i pensieri dell'umanità che tante donne nascondono

nella propria anima e nel proprio cuore e allo stesso tempo la forza, la grinta e il coraggio

che ogni donna porta dentro di sé.

Are you spending hundreds of hours of effort in SECOND LIFE to make insignificant amounts of money selling virtual clothes, experimenting with changing your gender or species, getting into random conversations with strangers from around the world, or having pseudo-anonymous sex with strangers (and let's not kid ourselves, sex is a huge draw into Real Life as it is in Second Life)? Either if you would define yourself as a complete noob (like I am) or an SL's hardcore enthusiast why don't you consider to TELEPORT yourself to COLORS OF LIFE? Thanks to our friends from WDT we got a flying gallery and a chill out island ruled by an extravagant queen and inhabited by damn funny and smart avatars. Are you getting interested or curious?
